Webdriver Torse Indoctrination

I think the whole Webdriver Torso thing is incredibly funny.  And oddly fascinating.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsLiV4WJfkTEHH0b9PmRklw

I don’t know what it is, and I don’t really care if it’s a real thing or just some bot doing system checks.  It doesn’t matter.  It’s interesting, and not knowing details makes it all the more fun to think about.  After all, the fun part is the mystery.

I recently told a friend about Webdriver Torso and he didn’t now what I was talking about.  Then I managed to show him a clip and he was as mystified as I am, but only in a “you’re still nuts for being into this” way.  Today I showed my mom, who immediately said “clearly, it’s a code.”  My mom knows nothing about computers and so it’s funny that she went that direction.

Code or bot, I don’t care.  I just like getting people to look at it and see what they say.

Webdriver Torso, You Tube, and Clyde Lewis

If you haven’t heard Ground Zero Radio lately, Clyde Lewis has been talking about the Webdriver Torso mystery on You Tube. There is a You Tube channel that has been posting videos at a rate of every 20 seconds on average so that there are literally thousands of videos in a matter of weeks.  The videos are nothing more than shapes with tones playing  in the background.  The tones are reminiscent of the Steven Spielberg classic Close Encounters of the Third Kind.  What are the tones?  What are they supposed to do?  Are they reaching out to aliens in space?  You decide.
